CBT involves…

CBT involves:

  • development of an accurate conceptualisation
    • this plans for both within sessions and across session
  • CBT is not merely a collection of techniques – it is a broad psychotherapy that is based on the cognitive model
  • the Beck Institute discourages the use of manuals which is a “one-size fits all” approach – rather, you are guided by the principles in evidence-based manuals
  • each condition of psychological/cognitive disorder involves their own:
    • thoughts
    • thought processes
    • mechanisms of action
    • beliefs and
    • behaviours
  • a collaborative, empathic therapeutic relationship is imperative
