Just Calm Down – researcher urges parents to not aim for perfection with their children

summary:
– love, time & routine/boundaries (to make kids feel safe) are what she believes children need – that they need to understand the link between consequences & behaviour
– she believes many parents are anxious about “getting it right”,&many felt judged &insecure
– they also feel besieged by advice on social media, & were constantly comparing themselves & their children with others
– rather than living up to unrealistic expectations & trying to be perfect, she believes parents should “calm down” & accept that they are doing “the best they can”
– she believes parents should “chill & enjoy their kids”
– she also advocates getting off social media & joining parent groups where you feel validated
