The article contends that negative thinking is part of the human condition & that to think we must always be positive is unrealistic & ultimately unhelpful.  In fact negative thinking/emotion  can & should be used to help drive us to achieve goals & desired outcomes. A bit like turning “bad worry” into “good worry” by realistically appraising situation ps & applying problem-solving towards values-directed outcomes.  Of course there are many cognitive & behavioural techniques which are discussed & taught during therapy to further support this goal-directed approach., when a person’s negative thinking & emotions have reached a level that impairs leading a full life. & is often self-defeating.
