Promoting Resilience in Children [Dr Sharne Rolfe, Psychologist] Australian Early Childhood Association, 2002

Posted on Updated on

Being sensitive means being in tune with the infant & young child (being tuned to their feelings, signals, cues):
– schedule uninterrupted 1 on 1 time with child
– avoid being distracted by non-child-centred events when with a child
– monitor children sufficiently well to be able to see or hear when they signal a need, even in a group
– pay careful attention to non-verbal cues about feelings, particularly in younger children
